Misha is home!!
If you haven’t read the beginning of this series, start here.
It’s taken me weeks to write this. I apologize to my subscribers.
I picked her up at the Hub where they had piled all of her backpacks and bags in an office. She had slipped over to the Ark to visit friends she hadn’t seen in the months that she had been at the encampment. I grabbed her bags and security helped me pile them in the back of my van. We had to find supply. I sat in my van for nearly 2 hours while she went down the path to a tent at the old encampment and bought supply so we could wean her off the fentanyl. It was Thursday evening and we would not see her doctor until Tuesday. She had some Kadian from the street, so we started there. I spent those two hours in my van with their friend, Kody and he had been telling me that he had been sick lately. That night, the fever, chills, nausea and coughing began. I was so sick! Misha took care of me over the next few weeks….making me ginger, honey, lemon tea and feeding me supplements. I couldn’t look at my phone, read a book or even watch TV. My eyes and ears hurt. My dear friend from the street lost his mom a few days earlier and I wanted to go to the funeral, but I was too sick. I also missed my husband’s follow up oncologist appointment after he finished his chemo, which made me sad, but I was in no shape to be around people and spread whatever I had. Craig was held downtown in lockup until he had a seizure, then was moved to hospital and stayed there for almost a week. We were able to speak to him on the phone a few times. Craig had court right after Misha came home and it was put off until a week later as he was still in hospital. This would continue for weeks until he got his legal aid and a lawyer.
